Cellophonics is fanatical about growing the Cello Quartet repertoire by commissioning new works – and rediscovering lost masterpieces. Having gathered a whole concert’s worth of commissions and discoveries we were invited by the SOMM label to record them this Autumn in the Menuhin Hall. This debut disc includes brand new original works written for us by Simon Baggs, Guy Barker, Roderick Elms, Julia Simpson and Rowland Sutherland…and forgotten gems by William Alwyn, York Bowen and Marie Dare.  We are indebted to the Hinrichsen Foundation and Marchus Trust for supporting the commissions, and the Alwyn Foundation and a very generous anonymous donor for supporting the recording project.
